Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Structural Design Engineer to join our team. This dynamic role involves contributing to the conceptual and detailed design of prototype aircraft, utilizing advanced engineering principles to develop aerostructures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop structural parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft using sheet metal, billet metallic, and composite materials.
• Perform CAD modeling (NX), structural sizing, design reviews, and documentation, while incorporating feedback from various stakeholders.
• Apply first principles and design guides to rapidly develop and trade aerostructures.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Stress Engineers, Flight Technologies, Manufacturing, QA, and other departments to mature aircraft designs from inception to production.
• Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to develop Product Definition Packages, independently prepare solutions to complex engineering challenges, and lead efforts when necessary.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Progressive engineering experience: six years with a bachelor’s degree, four years with a master’s degree, or two years with a PhD.
• Comprehensive understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory.
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts, apply them effectively, and coordinate work phases to address complex problems.
• Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Desire to mentor and lead less experienced team members on semi-routine engineering tasks.
• Professional Engineering License (preferred).
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Broad understanding of core engineering principles.
• Practical knowledge and passion for aviation (e.g., pilot, homebuilding, A&P, RC, etc.).
• Experience in aircraft and airframe design.
• Proficiency with finite element analysis and reviewing results from stress and stiffness models.
