AllSTEM Connections is seeking a Chemist to work onsite in Iselin, NJ.

This is a six-month contract position. Possible extension/temp-to-hire.

Hourly rate is up to $21.75/hour.

M-F, 8:30AM - 5PM.

SUMMARY:
The purpose of the job is to provide customers with quantitative elemental information for submitted samples, helping researchers develop new and better materials, assisting manufacturing with quality control, supporting lawyers for intellectual property rights, and finding evidence as to the cause of product failures. We are seeking an Associate Chemist to work in the X-ray Diffraction Section of the Analytics and Materials Characterization Group in Iselin New Jersey. The position requires someone with hands-on academic or industrial experience in materials characterization. Experience in the analysis of inorganic materials using X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy would be considered a plus as is a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform sample preparation procedures for all materials produced by R&D including battery materials, zeolites, and catalysts (automotive, environmental, chemical, and petroleum).

Analyze preparations via ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatography, XRF, and gravimetric methods

Maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of reported data

Report data to researchers through LIMS system

Investigate non-conforming data and institute corrective actions

Instrument maintenance

Assist in development of new wet chemistry and instrument methods to match researcher’s needs

Prepare calibration standards and other working and reference solutions

Adhere to ISO9001 guidelines and ASI quality policy

Documentation of results

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in chemistry or related field preferred

Experience in the analysis of inorganic materials using X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy would be considered a plus

Experience working with concentrated acids (HF, HClO4, HCl, NHO3, H2SO4).

Experience with Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and/or atomic adsorption spectroscopy

Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
