Requirements:
· Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in facilities, engineering, architecture or related discipline along with six or more years of progressive experience in construction planning with a bachelor's, or four or more years of experience with a master's. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
· Prefer minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in construction inspection, construction supervision, or a related field, with a strong focus on building systems.
· Experience working on capital projects, preferably within a facilities or institutional environment.
· Demonstrated experience interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
· Experience with various construction methods, materials, and equipment.
· Thorough knowledge of building codes (e.g., IBC, UPC, NEC, IMC), construction standards, and safety regulations.
· Strong understanding of all phases of construction, from excavation and foundation to finishes and systems commissioning.
· Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems and their integration within facilities.
· Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
· Proficient in using construction inspection tools and equipment (e.g., measuring devices, moisture meters, thermal cameras).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and construction management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC).
· Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to diverse audiences.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects concurrently.
· Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
· ICC (International Code Council) certifications (e.g., Building Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector).
· OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
· Relevant trade licenses (e.g., journeyman electrician, plumber) are a plus.
· Ability to regularly walk, stand, climb ladders, and navigate various terrains on construction sites.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other construction-related elements.
· Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
