Shifts:
• A Shift: 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• B Shift: 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Overtime as needed.

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to join its Independence, KS division specializing in heavy metal fabrication for the automotive industry. This position is responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to fabricate and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of experience and the ability to handle complex progressive and transfer dies with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and repair progressive, blank, and transfer dies.
• Machine, grind, and fit punches and die details through strong knowledge of tooling, machining, and die functions.
• Disassemble dies, inspect components, weld, repair, grind, and reassemble.
• Diagnose and repair dies directly in the press room, sharpening, aligning, and adjusting timing as required.
• Perform die set-ups, pilot releases, timing, and feed mechanism adjustments.
• Apply knowledge of steels, coatings, and materials to ensure proper die function.
• Comply with OSHA standards, company safety requirements, and handbook policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Regular and prompt attendance with flexibility to support production demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in tool and die making, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Ability to work from detailed drawings and diagrams, including complex or incomplete construction details.
• Strong hands-on experience with progressive and transfer die repair, including troubleshooting in-press issues.
• Proficiency in machining, grinding, welding, and fitting parts.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Strong mathematical and reasoning skills, with the ability to solve practical problems.
• Technical training, completion of a four-year apprenticeship, or equivalent preferred.
