We’re currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tool and Die Team Leader for Huntsville, Alabama. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding toolmakers and shop helpers in the repair and maintenance of dies and tooling.
Our client is a leading manufacturer in the metal stamping industry, committed to excellence in quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate a team of toolmakers and shop helpers during the B shift.
• Arrive 30 minutes before shift start to receive lineup and direction from A Shift.
• Communicate with the stamping department regarding repair priorities and timelines.
• Ensure toolroom has adequate die inventory for ongoing repairs.
• Perform welding operations (MIG, TIG, Stick) as needed.
• Train and mentor junior staff and shop helpers.
• Maintain accurate daily shift logs and communicate effectively across shifts.
• Enforce safety practices and ensure 5S housekeeping standards are met.
• Report supply shortages and tooling/safety concerns to the Tooling Supervisor.
Requirements:
• 4–6+ years of experience in Tool and Die operations or related field.
• Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification preferred.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with welding (MIG, TIG, Stick).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments with moving mechanical parts and moderate-to-loud noise levels.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Must be safety-conscious and committed to team success.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior leadership or team lead experience in a manufacturing or stamping environment.
• Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, and OSHA safety practices.

B Shift - 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm
