Short Description:

An AI Ethics Auditor is responsible for evaluating artificial intelligence systems to ensure they operate in alignment with ethical, legal, and organizational standards. They assess algorithms for bias, transparency, accountability, and compliance with privacy and fairness regulations. The auditor works closely with data scientists, engineers, and compliance teams to identify risks and recommend improvements to mitigate potential ethical concerns. This role requires strong analytical, technical, and ethical reasoning skills to promote responsible AI development and deployment.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate artificial intelligence (AI) systems, algorithms, and datasets to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Assess AI models for potential bias, discrimination, or unfair decision-making patterns
  • Review data collection and usage practices to confirm adherence to privacy and consent requirements
  • Conduct audits of AI governance frameworks, transparency reports, and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and compliance teams to improve ethical AI design and implementation
  • Develop and maintain audit checklists, policies, and documentation for ethical AI practices
  • Monitor emerging AI ethics regulations and update internal compliance strategies accordingly
  • Present audit findings, risk analyses, and recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Provide training and guidance on AI ethics best practices to internal teams and external partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by proposing updates to AI ethics frameworks and company policies

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Law, or a related field; certifications in AI governance or auditing preferred
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of AI/ML models, data pipelines, and algorithmic decision-making processes
  • Ethical Frameworks: Knowledge of AI ethics principles, such as fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to evaluate technical systems and identify bias or non-compliance risks
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with emerging AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR, U.S. AI Bill of Rights)
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex technical and ethical findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in reviewing algorithms, datasets, and documentation for compliance gaps
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Experience working across technical, legal, and policy teams to ensure ethical AI alignment
