Short Description:

An Equipment Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. They perform routine inspections, diagnose malfunctions, replace defective parts, and calibrate systems according to manufacturer specifications. Equipment Technicians also document maintenance activities and collaborate with other departments to support operational efficiency. This role requires strong mechanical and technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, tools, and technical equipment used in production or laboratory environments
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues using testing devices and diagnostic tools
  • Calibrate, align, and adjust equipment components according to manufacturer specifications
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and calibration results in service logs or computerized maintenance systems
  • Assist in equipment upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to improve functionality or efficiency
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment problems
  • Maintain an inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs and order replacements as required
  • Ensure all equipment complies with safety and regulatory standards
  • Provide technical support and training to operators on proper equipment use and maintenance practices

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or calibration
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues efficiently and accurately
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using diagnostic instruments, hand tools, and precision measuring devices
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in performing maintenance and documenting service records
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with technicians, engineers, and supervisors
