Short Description:

A Junior Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal standards. They assist in conducting audits, reviewing documentation, and identifying potential compliance risks. The role involves preparing reports, maintaining records, and helping train staff on regulatory requirements. Junior Compliance Officers work closely with senior compliance staff to support investigations and corrective actions. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and enforcing company policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance across departments
  • Conduct routine reviews and audits to ensure adherence to internal controls and applicable laws or industry standards
  • Support the preparation of compliance reports, filings, and documentation for internal and external audits
  • Research and interpret regulations, guidance updates, and best practices relevant to the organization’s operations
  • Help develop and maintain compliance training materials and track employee participation
  • Review contracts, forms, and communications to identify potential compliance risks or inconsistencies
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, risk assessments, and corrective action logs in tracking systems
  • Assist in investigating and documenting potential policy violations or compliance concerns
  • Coordinate with management, legal, and risk teams to implement corrective or preventive measures
  • Support the continuous improvement of compliance programs, reporting processes, and control frameworks

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law, or a related field required; compliance coursework or certification preferred
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory support roles
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations such as SOX, HIPAA, OSHA, or industry-specific compliance standards
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret regulations, analyze data, and identify potential risks or process gaps
  • Communication: Clear and professional verbal and written communication for reporting and cross-department collaboration
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in documentation, recordkeeping, and monitoring compliance metrics
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software
  • Ethics & Integrity: Strong sense of confidentiality, discretion, and ethical responsibility in handling sensitive information
