Short Description:

A Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying products or materials to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. They document findings, identify defects or process deviations, and work with production teams to implement corrective actions. The role involves using precision instruments, maintaining detailed records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Quality Control Specialists help maintain product consistency, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of quality assurance procedures are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, and evaluate materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet company and regulatory quality standards
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using measuring tools, testing equipment, and established protocols
  • Document inspection results, nonconformances, and corrective actions in quality management systems (QMS) or inspection reports
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective or preventive actions
  • Review and verify production records, batch documentation, and test data for completeness and accuracy
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized records and providing required documentation or samples
  • Calibrate and maintain inspection tools and testing instruments to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance
  • Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection criteria, and quality checklists
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to identify deviations and ensure consistent adherence to specifications and GMP/ISO standards
  • Provide feedback and training to production staff on quality procedures, defect prevention, and continuous improvement practices

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing operations
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with inspection methods, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify defects, interpret specifications, and maintain accurate records
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and testing devices
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of quality systems such as ISO 9001, GMP, or FDA regulations depending on industry
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect and interpret quality data to support process improvement initiatives
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams
