Short Description:

An Electronics Engineer, Circuit Engineer, or Electronics Research Engineer designs, maintains, and develops electronic products and systems. Their duties include building electrical circuits, designing electronics products with computer software, and running electrical safety tests on new products.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Work on individual initiatives or as part of a team within a dedicated team of electricians working to production deadlines.
  • To carry out repairs, modifications, or overhauls of electronic equipment following work instructions and schematics.
  • Be flexible and work in any assembly area with potentially varying shift patterns and help if required in non-assembly areas.
  • Record components used at repair, modification, and overhaul to report to the customer and maintain repair history records.
  • Undertake any required training in related processes.
  • Investigate where equipment has not achieved required outputs or does not fit together and diagnose causes and make corrections.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of actual and potential problems.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met by working on technical documents and work instructions.
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks and specify routine preventative maintenance, some of which may be outside the assembly areas.
  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops to increase efficiency within the company. Utilize improvement tools such as 5S to improve the flow and workplace layout.
  • Communicate to the Supervisor/Manager any deficiencies in the production activity as they are detected and suggest any possible actions to correct these deficiencies.
  • Attend site to provide technical support and assistance to the customer when required.
  • Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and Personnel policies and procedures.
  • Use the MRP/ERP system to process repair orders and consume parts for stock control.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
  • Experience: Experience designing and developing electronic circuits from scratch, ideally for consumer products in mass production. Have relevant industrial experience in an Electronics Engineering or Senior Technician role
  • Skills: Working knowledge of schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation tools. Skilled in testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and verifying electronic circuits. Experience designing electronic hardware for safety and compliance at PCBA and product levels, including EMC/ESD. Have hands-on experience working on electronic components and circuits for use in products.
  • Communication: Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication and leadership skills
  • Computer skills: Have experience doing detailed drawings, schematics, and models using computer design software such as CAD and EMC testing.
  • Miscellaneous: Understanding product development lifecycles, design, and document change control is desirable.
