Short Description:

A Medical Device Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling medical devices to healthcare professionals, hospitals, and clinics. They establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, presenting product benefits and features to demonstrate how devices meet the needs of healthcare providers. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing accounts, and ensuring customer satisfaction through product support and training. The representative must stay informed about industry trends, product updates, and competitors to effectively position their products in the marketplace. Strong communication, negotiation, and sales skills are essential to succeed in this position.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell medical devices to healthcare professionals, hospitals, clinics, and medical institutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and provide detailed explanations on how the medical devices function to potential clients.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with healthcare providers, key decision-makers, and other stakeholders in the medical field.
  • Prepare and deliver effective sales presentations tailored to customer needs, addressing concerns, and negotiating contracts and pricing.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor products, and market conditions to inform sales strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and performance goals set by the organization or management.
  • Provide training and support to customers post-sale, ensuring the proper use of medical devices and offering troubleshooting assistance.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, orders, and feedback through CRM systems and other reporting tools.
  • Collect customer feedback on product performance, handling inquiries and resolving any issues or complaints.
  • Ensure that all sales activities comply with legal and regulatory standards, including those specific to medical devices.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, marketing, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in sales, preferably within the medical or healthcare industry. Experience with medical devices or pharmaceuticals is highly valued.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical device technology, features, and benefits, as well as the ability to explain these to non-technical clients.
  • Sales Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills to close sales, overcome objections, and drive revenue.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with a variety of healthcare professionals and stakeholders, establishing trust and long-term relationships.
  • Time Management and Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage schedules, and track sales performance.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to think critically and resolve customer concerns or issues with the products, offering solutions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other digital tools to track sales activities, manage client information, and analyze performance.
  • Understanding of Regulations: Knowledge of medical device regulations, compliance standards, and FDA guidelines for promoting and selling medical products.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, conferences, and industry events as needed.
