Short Description:

A Pharmaceutical Sales Representative should be attuned to prevailing health concerns and how products negate or ameliorate these. Ultimately, a successful pharmaceutical sales representative will demonstrate an interest in wellness that transcends preoccupations with material wealth.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Serves customers by selling pharmaceutical products and meeting customer needs.
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
  • Adjusts sales presentation content by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volumes of dealers.
  • Orchestrate virtual sales channels, including social media, presentation technology, and webinars.
  • Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Recommends products, services, and policy changes by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher required
  • Experience: 2+ years of sales experience preferred
  • Driver’s License: Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Skills: Ability to build rapport and relationships by interacting effectively with employees and external contacts (i.e., MD and office staff) at all levels, demonstrating awareness of their needs, and responding with the appropriate action
  • Organization Skills: Highly effective organizational skills to implement a variety of programs, such as speaker programs and other activities
  • Results Oriented: Strong documented sales results over time
  • Language Skills: Bilingual skills as aligned with the territory and customer need
