Short Description:

A Medical Writer is responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate content related to healthcare, clinical trials, and medical research. They prepare documents such as clinical study reports, regulatory submissions, patient education materials, and scientific publications. Medical Writers ensure that complex medical information is presented in a way that is accessible to various audiences, including healthcare professionals and the general public. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, research processes, and the ability to communicate complex data effectively and accurately.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit a variety of medical documents, including clinical trial reports, regulatory submission documents, and scientific articles.
  • Conduct thorough research on medical topics, interpret clinical data, and ensure accurate representation of scientific information.
  • Draft clinical study protocols, investigator brochures, patient consent forms, and other documents needed for clinical trials.
  • Prepare and review documents for submission to regulatory agencies (FDA, EMA) in compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Author manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to publication guidelines.
  • Work closely with doctors, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to gather accurate and up-to-date information for writing projects.
  • Proofread and edit documents to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with style guides.
  • Create content for marketing purposes, including educational materials, patient information leaflets, and product labels.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to medical writing processes within an organization.
  • Maintain and organize medical documents in accordance with regulatory and company standards for easy retrieval and auditing.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in life sciences, medicine, health communication, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of medical terminology and scientific language.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Guidelines: Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including ICH-GCP, FDA, and EMA guidelines for clinical trials and medical writing.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and clarity of medical content, while adhering to regulatory and scientific standards.
  • Experience in Medical Writing: Previous experience in medical writing, particularly in a clinical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare setting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with physicians, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct comprehensive research, critically assess scientific literature, and synthesize complex information into clear written documents.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and client expectations.
