Short Description:

An AWS Engineer, or Amazon Web Services Engineer, is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions using the AWS platform. Their duties include configuring and deploying applications, optimizing infrastructure, and ensuring the security and reliability of AWS environments. AWS Engineers collaborate with development and IT teams, staying abreast of AWS services and best practices to optimize performance and cost efficiency. Strong expertise in AWS services, scripting languages, and a deep understanding of cloud architecture are crucial for success in this role, as AWS Engineers contribute to the scalability and resilience of digital infrastructures.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Build, release, and manage the configuration of all production systems.
  • Manage a continuous integration and deployment methodology for server-based technologies.
  • Work alongside architecture and engineering teams to design and implement any scalable software services.
  • Ensure necessary system security by using best in class cloud security solutions.
  • Stay current with new technology options and vendor products, evaluating which ones would be a good fit for the company.
  • Implement continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines when necessary.
  • Recommend process and architecture improvements.
  • Troubleshoot the system and solve problems across all platform and application domains.
  • Oversee pre-production acceptance testing to ensure the high quality of a company’s services and products.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor-level degree in engineering, information technology, data communications, telecommunications, computer science, or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years of relevant consulting, industry or technology experience
  • AWS: Demonstrated experience in Windows Active Directory design and implementation across AWS cloud environments
  • AWS Services: Experience with designing and deploying AWS Services like Elastic Compute (EC2), Storages (S3, EBS, EFS, Glacier and AWS Storage Gateway) and RDS
  • Data Management: Demonstrated experience in AWS storage encryption, data at rest, and data in transit
  • CI/CD: Hands on knowledge with Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment tools and processes
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Communication: Strong communicator
