Short Description:

A Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for protecting an organization’s information systems and data from cyber threats and attacks. Their duties include implementing security measures, monitoring networks for vulnerabilities, conducting risk assessments, and responding to security incidents. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network traffic and security alerts for potential security breaches or vulnerabilities, utilizing security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and implement corrective measures to mitigate damage and prevent future occurrences.
  • Perform regular risk assessments and vulnerability assessments to identify potential threats and weaknesses in the organization’s systems and networks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Conduct security awareness training for employees, educating them about cybersecurity best practices and how to recognize potential threats.
  • Configure and maintain security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and antivirus software.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, NIST) and prepare for audits or assessments.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure that security measures are integrated into the organization’s infrastructure and development processes.
  • Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability scanning to assess the effectiveness of existing security measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports on security incidents, risk assessments, and compliance audits, providing recommendations for improving the organization’s security posture.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
  • Experience in Cybersecurity: 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles, with a solid understanding of security principles and practices.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of network security protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify vulnerabilities and develop effective security solutions.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, NIST) related to information security and data protection.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and prepare documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for monitoring systems, reviewing security alerts, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices through ongoing education and training.
