Short Description:

Configuration specialists are responsible for readying computer software, applications and systems for use. They also participate in the manufacture of software, where they help to ensure development of products that meet user needs.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing configuration management (CM) procedures.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing CM procedures.
  • Oversee configuration and base lining activities of project items.
  • Work with configuration team in development, upgrades and maintenance of CM database.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity and security in CM database.
  • Schedule regular audits on CM database and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
  • Provide support to management in conducting configuration meetings and maintaining project schedules.
  • Analyze configuration issues and develop appropriate resolutions and action items.
  • Conduct orientations and trainings for new hires.
  • Assign workload and schedules to team members.
  • Evaluate performance of team members and provide feedback for improvements.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Associate degree in engineering, or related field 
  • 1–2 yrs. of related experience in an engineering office environment
  • Experience in configuration or implementation (preferred) 

Skills and Abilities

  • Good written and verbal communication skills  
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Familiar with general office practices and procedures
  • Able to operate a computer and standard office equipment
  • Able to work with the following programs: Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Windows)
  • Able to follow detailed written and oral instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and documentation (preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a team environment, and developing professional relationships 
  • Provide suggestions or opportunities for improvement on ways a customer has historically captured data, and the way this data should be captured after the implementation. 
  • Analyze current customer complaints or issues and identify solutions to improve data entry for reportability and ease-of-use. 
  • Assist with data mapping and provide insights on best CRM practices. 
  • Prioritize and manage several open projects or issues at a given time
