Short Description:

An IT Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting an organization’s computer systems, networks, and technology infrastructure. They troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assist with system installations, and ensure that all IT systems run smoothly and efficiently. IT Specialists may also be responsible for maintaining network security, providing user support, and ensuring that data is backed up and securely stored. The role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff. They stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and implement solutions to improve organizational efficiency.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Installing new software and hardware components.
  • Regularly evaluating IT systems to ensure they meet the necessary demands.
  • Assisting with network administration tasks.
  • Ensuring data storage is safe and secure.
  • Resolving all issues coworkers have with their IT systems and software.
  • Educating coworkers about network security and best practices for computer usage.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of our computer network.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications can supplement education.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), hardware setup, networking, and software troubleshooting. Experience with databases, cloud services, and IT infrastructure is beneficial.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve IT issues efficiently, from software bugs to hardware malfunctions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and assist with IT support requests.
  • Experience with IT Support: At least 2-4 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a related role, with hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving IT issues.
  • Certifications: Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are highly valued.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Ability to work well with users, providing exceptional support in person, via phone, or through remote troubleshooting tools.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of IT security principles, including antivirus, firewalls, data protection, and backup procedures, to safeguard organizational data.
